The cycle of generational trauma through the prism of fatherhood, inheritance and the culture of Ireland
Synopsis
An Irish shepherd family is thrust into battle on several fronts: internal strife, feuds within the family, rivalry with another farmer.
69th Cork Film Festival – #3 (Premiere + Q&A)A fast-paced revenge film that somehow manages to pull off the impossible, in my opinion
Paul Meskel and Tom Burke were originally cast as the leads, but after the project stalled in development, both dropped out and were replaced by Barry Keoghan and Christopher Abbott..
Both do more with their roles than anyone else
The entire cast does a fantastic job, but the standouts have to be Nora-Jane Murphy, Barry Keoghan and Christopher Abbott (whose accent doesn’t sound real for an American).
The themes of abuse, violence, and the inability to communicate properly are very woven into this
They also really spoke to me because they are so current in our world right now.
