Synopsis
CIA agent Joe tries to balance his personal and professional life as the spearhead of the agency’s war on terror. Real military advisors helped produce a more authentic execution of weapons handling, house cleaning, positioning, squad activities, etc. The best new series right now, after a disappointing 4th season of Jack Ryan and generally mediocre series everywhere, this one was much better in every way.
Great acting from all
It looks really well done and the action/fight scenes are awesome. I feel like most of the criticism of this show in the comments section seems to boil down to its lack of realism because of the whole female operator thing, and me, a guy, I don’t mind if a good female-led action series is an original IP that doesn’t turn a male lead into a female lead. Also, I haven’t seen any red flags so far, like making every man seem incompetent or anything like that.
PS: Nicole Kidman’s role so far is incredibly small and uneventful and could have been done by anyone else
At first I thought it would be a more action-oriented, no-nonsense show, but then they dove into the family thing a bit and that usually makes me cringe, but I didn’t hate what they did there. My only criticism is that the plot of what this specific group of operators does is very limiting and could kill it by going beyond the plot/villain of one season… It needs to be more encompassing so they can eventually make a new Homeland that is more action-packed and fast-paced or it risks becoming too episodic like a blacklist.
We’ll see what the great Morgan Freeman brings to the show
But from what I’ve seen so far, the show could stand on its own with Zaldana without any other A-list actors. TLDR Overall I’m cautiously optimistic but I like what I’m seeing so far, it’s all incredibly polished and well done. It’s entertaining even if it’s not the History Channel show that some reviewers seem to prefer.
